The Alston Method

The Alston Method Movement Screen is the basis of our work. The method is designed to meet any human where he or she is. 
The method keeps individuals fit and well, with oxygen incorporated throughout the whole body. 
We use the Alston Method to guide individuals through eight essential movements which allows us to understand where blood flow and oxygen are being impeded. After these movements are analyzed, the individual is given an exercise prescription to reintroduce dissected patterns and restore function and vitality.

Why a Movement Screen? 

​​The movement screen helps us get familiar with you, your body, and your movement patterns. During your screening, we use our own unique method called the Alston Method - a series of eight basic essential movements, to assess how you move.  
​After going through our screening, you and your doctor will know what physical ailments or patterns are affecting your overall health and well-being, as well as our recommendation to restore function and vitality moving forward.

The Screening Session

Each Screening is a 50 minute session wherein we will get to know you, your circumstances, and get a chance to familiarize ourselves with your body and movement patterns. For individuals who are healthy, the screening helps us identify and assess asymmetries that could lead to injury and disease. For individuals suffering from chronic pain, disease, and other health related issues, the screen helps us identify the link between your pain, disease, or issue and your physical body so we can begin to treat it. 

Joseph’s work with my mother was nothing short of extraordinary. She has Parkinson’s and used a walker at the start and now most often goes without. It is simply remarkable. I could not say enough good things about Joseph Antoine Alston.

Health And Safety First 

Our center is a private 1 on 1 healing center. We are limiting the number of guests to three in the facility at one time. All guests who are here will be supported and guided while they are rehabilitating, exercising, and healing at the Center. We are taking particular care to observe COVID-19 best practices and protocols.
The center equipment is cleaned and disinfected regularly. The Center has masks and hand sanitizer available at the front entrance to the center, as well as a device to check each guest's temperature. When you signup, you have the option to come in person to us or to be seen  by virtual video session from the comfort of your home. 

What Next? 

After your movement screen, we'll confer with your doctor and you to discuss how a movement treatment plan could benefit you and your needs. You might opt to not continue and that is ok because even with a movement screen both you and your doctor will gain insight into your particular movement pattern and how it impacts your health unlocking paths to optimization.

If you and your doctor decide to move forward with a treatment plan we will work with you on either a regular or as-needed basis. In our sessions we will guide your body into neutral and functional movement patterns using our method and your own intuitive neuromuscular feedback.We currently see clients in person as well as virtually, where you can be treated from the comfort of your own home.
